Project Summary
 
The Group created a special trust by the name of “Spence Evoluzione Charitable Trust”, on the 30th of August 2005 to oversee the tsunami housing projects.

Aitken Spence Group employees and various local and international parties contributed funding to provide shelter for the ones who lost everything due to the tsunami devastation.

Housing Projects
Mahapalana Village 10 housing units and a community centre
Katuwila Village 22 housing units and a community centre
Wawlugalakale 33 housing units and a medical centre
Kumpurupiddy Village (Stage I) 26 housing units.
Kumpurupiddy Village (Stage II) Community centre, medical centre, pre-school and a playground (ongoing)
 
Pathmasiri Village (Ahungalla)
Construction of 10 houses was commenced on 19th of August 2005 and donated to recipients on the 26th December 2005.

Katuvila KV Land (Ahungalla)
Construction of 22 houses was commenced on 19th of August and the ceremonial donation of the houses to the recipients took place on the 26th of December 2005.

Kumpurupiddy Project (Trincomalee)
The 24th of December 2005, marked the completion of the Aitken Spence TUI housing project of 26 houses. Each recipient received a house worth Rs 600,000 situated within a ten perch block. The Spence Evoluzione Charitable Trust was the first to open a group of houses in Trincomalee.

Wawlugalakale Project (Ahungalla)
With contributions from an Israeli donor, construction of houses for displaced people commenced on 16th of December 2005. These were donated to the deserving on 12th June 2006.
