Aitken Spence is the leading resort operator in Sri Lanka with 10 properties. It is also the fourth largest hotel operator in the Maldives with 8 properties. Company has now ventured in to India where 2 hotels are operating under management contracts with several more properties to be operational in the near future. Furthermore, with its recent foray into the Middle East,  Aitken Spence has commenced managed 4 hotel properties in Oman- one of the most dynamic tourism destinations in the region. Its range of multiple award-winning hotel properties and management expertise has set industry benchmarks.

Known and respected for pioneering services in the industry, the Logistics arm of Aitken Spence is the leader in Integrated Logistics and a dominant player in Freight Forwarding in Sri Lanka with a growing regional presence.

 

The Group has been in the Maritime Transport sector since its inception and at present represents many major international shipping and freight forwarding principals including Hyundai Merchant Marine and Hapag-Lloyd. It is the first Sri Lankan company to venture into port efficiency improvement, training and container terminal management overseas with its operations in the Port of Durban- the busiest in Africa.

The Company’s power plants that contribute to 14% of the national grid were joint ventures with Caterpillar Power Ventures of USA and Wärtsilä of Finland. In addition, we represent TNT Express and OTIS- the world’s leader in elevator products.

Furthermore we are the principal representative in Sri Lanka for Western Union Money Transfer, with a local network of 1000 representatives. Aitken Spence recently ventured into IT Solutions partnering with Eves Technology AG of Germany.

In addition, Aitken Spence is a partner of a consortium, which owns two plantation companies– comprising 33 estates. The plantations cover a land area of approximately 16,000 hectares, home to some of Sri Lanka’s finest tea gardens. The company’s joint venture crude palm oil processing mill is only the 2nd such facility in Sri Lanka in the last 30 years.
